Shelving instead of walls: dividing and storing
A bookcase placed perpendicular to the wall divides the room into two parts, while remaining open. Light passes through the shelves, and the space does not look cut in half. This works better than a solid partition, especially if the room has only one window.
The shelving unit can be ceiling-high or 1.5-1.8 meters high. The tall option provides more storage space and clearly separates the areas. The low option preserves the feeling of space and allows you to see the entire room. The choice depends on how private the bedroom should be.
Books, decorations, and boxes for small items are placed on the shelving unit. If one side faces the bedroom, an alarm clock, lamp, and personal items are placed there. It is possible to turn a one-room apartment into something resembling a two-room apartment, even if you are not ready for a major redevelopment. The point is not to build permanent walls, but to divide the space wisely, creating the feeling of separate rooms. The secret to success lies in visual techniques and smart organization.
