In other words, use color on large forms (sofa, kitchen, carpet), but keep it fairly calm, and on small ones, especially when it comes to decor, increase the brightness spectrum.

"A purple sofa against green wallpaper with birds is a feature of one of my interiors. The study turned out to be quite restrained, so I wanted to add a colorful accent that would catch the eye and add brightness to the interior. We used complex shades for the walls and furniture to avoid creating the impression of a “cheap” interior. The more complex the color, the more “expensive” it looks.

It is important to consider the balance of colors so that the space does not become cluttered and garish—everything should be harmonious. You need to set the right priorities. In this interior, the main color is white, so it doesn't seem heavy. Green walls and gray-brown furniture provide the backdrop for our accent: these colors don't distract from the main focus. It's important not to “overpower” the color accent with other details — even the pillows are chosen to match the birds on the wall.

"I really love bright accent furniture. I love it so much that I designed several interesting chests of drawers and dreamed of seeing them in real interiors! And I was lucky: the author of the SHOWHOUSE+166 project, architect Olga Kotlovaya, was looking for something completely unusual for her space, something that would make a statement, be confusing, shocking, but still fit into the architectural proportions of the interior of the historic hall of the Serebryakov mansion.
The inspiration for the chest of drawers was the famous painting by K.S. Petrov-Vodkin, “The Bathing of the Red Horse”: we were interested in exploring the transformation of man over 100 years, but without making serious conclusions, instead taking an ironic approach to the challenges of our time. Our hero has let go of the horse — it is present only as a color. We are saying that people are still as defenseless and beautiful as ever, nothing has changed. But we are also trolling the hedonism of modern man. However, we believe that the time will come when everything will change — the horse will come to life, and the rider will bathe it again in the spray of the sun and water.

For example, a kitchen is built-in furniture and one of the most expensive items in the furniture budget; it is only changed along with the apartment… Therefore, a bright kitchen is an option for bold, extraordinary customers. Such as the owners of this Moscow penthouse.
Why did we choose this particular color for the kitchen? It was important for me to emphasize the special view from the windows of this apartment. The panoramic windows face two sides, and at any time of the day, it is filled with beautiful light and a huge sky. The entire color scheme of the project is linked to the view from the windows: a rich color was chosen for the kitchen facades, matching the blue-green towers of the City, which are visible from the kitchen window.
Bright furniture is not just an object, but a powerful tool for creating a mood in your home. As the designers' tips have shown, you can experiment with it, but it is important to do so consciously. The main thing is not to be afraid, but also not to overload the space.
Start with one accent piece that will become the center of attention. Let everything else be a neutral background for it. Combine colors based on a sense of proportion and simple rules of contrast or harmony of shades.
