About the manufacturing company
The company was founded in the west of Flanders in 1960. A small production facility named Unilin was established by two families to process flax and create products from this crop. But when flax became scarce in the 1970s, we were forced to switch to wood.
The company’s products were mostly used for decoration, but one Dutchman who later became a client laid the panels on the ground. This served as the catalyst for the creation of Quick-Step’slineof floor covering products.
These days, the business provides a large assortment of long-lasting laminate and other polyvinyl chloride floor covering collections.
Early in the new century, the manufacturer’s team conducted research on a variety of materials as potential raw materials for production in order to expand its product line. And creating composite composition polyvinyl chloride coatings on top of already-existing products was a great solution. This coating was quartzvinyl, which the company has been producing with a continuous range expansion since 2020.
Certification of quartz vinyl products
Unilin fully conforms to all applicable legal environmental and hygienic standards. And because the organization’s goal is to be the greatest floor coverings manufacturer, its internal standards are far higher than those of the world. The company takes voluntary certifications because it doesn’t back down from challenges.
The primary operating principle is environmental friendliness. Reclaimed wood and flax straw are two examples of renewable raw materials used in all products.
Taking into account every detail regarding the actual makeup of vinyl is important when discussing PVC. In addition to the readily available chalk, Quick-Step floors also include polyvinyl chloride that has been processed using the company’s machinery.
One quarter virgin polyvinyl chloride is found in vinyl floor tiles. It is composed of ethylene, a byproduct of crude petroleum, and regular salt. The business is well aware that the earth cannot replenish its oil fields. Unilin therefore places a high priority on developing quartz vinyl coatings that have a 25-year service life.
The company uses creative solutions to create products with low emissions of harmful substances because it fights for clean air in its customers’ homes. The producer reduces the amount of dangerous volatile chemicals.
One of the volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, is ten times less prevalent in Unilin laminate wood flooring.
Neither were formaldehyde compounds found in quartz vinyl. The goods have the marks M1 and A+. You can view all of the product quality certifications and certificates here, here, and here.
General features
Quartz vinyl QuickStep PVC panels have every attribute of a superior flooring material combined. The qualities of Unilin’s quartz vinyl are as follows:
- Moisture resistance.
- Increased wear resistance.
- Surface strength.
- Noise suppression.
- Thermal insulation properties.
- High degree of anti-slip.
- Easy installation.
- High resistance of the top coating layer to any type of contamination.
The company’s specialists are always creating new collections and refining coating designs. Quartz vinyl is suitable for both traditional and loft style interior design. You can be certain that the texture, color scheme, and pattern perfectly mimic the cut of natural wood by selecting the desired textures.
Regarding decors that mimic natural stone, they flawlessly capture the veining and patterns found in natural rocks like granite, marble, and other mountain minerals. Artificial finishing materials’ textures, like those of concrete coatings and self-leveling mixtures, are also frequently utilized in decoration. Unilin produces PVC goods in two strength classes:
- Strength class 32 for domestic use.
- Class 33 for commercial areas.
Every kind of product is made in three different thicknesses:
- 5 mm are recommended for installation in hallways, living rooms and sleeping areas.
- 5 mm with moisture protection.
- 5 mm with protection against high indoor humidity.
When exposed to UV light, quartz vinyl floor tiles do not change color. The tiles do not shrink either. Triangular chamfers on quick-step floor fittings are used to add visual interest to interior design schemes.
Quartz vinyl does not require additional base preparation or disassembly of the previous materials used to cover the floor; it can be taken down and put back together whenever needed.
There are no poisonous or dangerous materials in this kind of coating. Since the tiles virtually have no smell, any room will have a neutral microclimate. Even after wet cleaning, the consumer and his kids won’t fall on the floor segments thanks to the anti-slip top layer.
Quick-Step quartz vinyl tiles don’t need special maintenance and can sustain an endless cycle of wet cleaning without becoming discolored.
It is vital to take a closer look at each layer of the product to determine its properties. Let’s start with the bottom layer:
- The base of the floor is made of polyvinyl chloride, this layer protects the floor panels well from deformation. This layer is called HEIRB – Highly efficient impact-resistant backing.
- The next layer is a mixture of quartz and fiberglass, this part of the slab is stabilizing. The layer does not allow the coating to shrink or stretch, and is marked ESGF – Extra stabilizing glass fiber.
- Next comes a layer of protective impact-resistant base, which has sound-absorbing and moisture-resistant properties. SIRC PVC – Strong impact-resistant PVC core.
- After the impact-resistant base, a layer with high-definition textured decor is applied. This coating layer completely replicates the natural cuts of wood or the texture of stone or concrete, depending on the collection. Marking of the FPD PVC layer – Fine-printed PVC decor.
- The top layer, which is the first to take on all the loads and protects the floor from dirt and scratches, is a transparent protective layer with a high class of protection and impact resistance, the so-called Scratch Guard.
When creating quartz vinyl tiles, the manufacturer took on warranty obligations that are valid for 25 years. This is a pledge to preserve the distinct texture and color of the floor tiles in addition to their resistance to abrasion and chipping.
Quartz vinyl has the qualities of thermal insulation for the duration of its service life and won’t make noise when you walk on it.
The following rooms are recommended to have tiles installed as flooring because they meet all European standards for quality, safety, and having a high-class protective layer and necessary margin of safety:
- Children"s institutions.
- Commercial premises for any purpose (airports, train stations, lobbies of hotel complexes, as well as high-traffic corridors).
- Flights of stairs.
- Houses, apartments and cottages.
With Quick-step’suniquelocking mechanism, floor components are assembled into a lock without the need for additional adhesives, and a monolith is created upon installation.
Three formats are available for LVT coating:
- Traditional size planks.
- Boards of increased dimensions.
- Panels for tile products.
Water is effectively retained on the deck surface by a locking system treated with wax. This kind of LVT is appropriate for installation in high-humidity areas and works well with underfloor heating systems. Additionally, there is a line of glue-mounted quartz vinyl tile products.

Installation work
Installation guidelines are applicable to all Alpha Vinyl collections, with the exception of Alpha Vinyl 4+1 mm, which is pre-installed. Only heated rooms (minimum room temperature of 5 degrees Celsius) are recommended for the installation of this type of LVT coating.
It is not advised to install these kinds of floor covering organizing segments on decks, in unheated ship cabins, residential trailers, gazebos, or solariums. Additionally, in any unheated room.
Installing heavy items (such as electric batteries, safes, wood stoves, and other immovable objects) on the surface is strictly forbidden. If the specified items must be in the room, they are first mounted on the subfloor and then, with consideration for the compensation gap, quartz vinyl is installed around them.
Using specialized underlay for the base is advised when installing this kind of floor décor.
Leave an expansion gap approximately 8 mm wide before assembling the floor elements. The assembled floor structure cannot have any obstructions preventing it from moving freely. If there are bulky, immobile items on the ground, it makes sense to leave a space for compensation.
Installing an expansion profile between premises is generally not necessary, but there are a few situations where it is. These include:
- The temperature in adjacent rooms fluctuates up or down, outside the temperature range of 18-30 degrees.
- When one of the adjacent rooms is equipped with a heated floor system, and the room in which the installation is being carried out is not.
- If the maximum area of the room for laying the floor covering is exceeded.
The flooring installation sequence is as follows:
- Before carrying out work, it is necessary to measure the length and width of the room. This is necessary to determine the optimal method of laying exactly the one that will ensure the aesthetic appearance of the floor covering. For a harmonious picture of the installation, it is necessary to ensure that the starting and finishing rows are even in width.
- When carrying out installation, it is worth ensuring that panels of the same tone do not lie next to each other. For a better visual effect, it is worth installing tiles along any long wall located parallel to the light source.
- When laying, the end panels of two adjacent rows should not coincide. They are staggered, with a shift of about 30 cm.
- The first strip of the substrate is laid parallel to the long part of the room. After which the substrate is added step by step according to the area of the room at each step of installation. It is worth joining parallel strips with a narrow strip of tape so that they do not move apart.
- The slabs of this manufacturer can be installed using different methods, preferably corner. First, the short edge of the tile to be installed must be installed at an angle into the short edge of the installed strip, after which the part to be installed must be raised at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees. The previously laid tile will rise and this is normal. After this, you need to place both hands next to the joint and pull the long side of the strip towards you. The panel is snapped.
- After the strip is installed, you need to make sure that the joints fit tightly, and that there are no differences in height or gaps.
- Installation of each subsequent element of the floor covering is carried out in the same way as the previous one. For ease of installation, it is allowed to sit on already assembled rows of LVT planks.
- It is possible to assemble quartz vinyl from Quick-Step onto a heated floor system; in this installation option, it is important not to allow the working surface to heat above 27 degrees.
Pros and cons of the series
Like many other types of tile floors, this one has benefits and drawbacks. Among the benefits of operation are:
- Versatility of coating installation sites (airports, kindergartens).
- The abrasion class corresponds to commercial types of coatings.
To the drawbacks This assortment consists of:
- Prohibition on installation in rooms with high humidity.
- Not suitable for use in finishing heated floor systems without the use of an additional base made of hard material such as plywood or fiberboard.
- It is necessary to have expansion joints and profiles.
Price
There is an average price of 3,500 rubles for one square meter of this collection.

Laying
The installation process for this kind of LVT coating is broken down into three phases:
Setting up the base and material:
- Ensure the room temperature ranges from 18 to 30 degrees Celsius.
- Bring the coating in packs into the room and leave it there to cure for at least 48 hours. The coating is not suitable for arranging floors, solariums, floating vessels, mobile homes, as well as unheated premises. It is recommended to use Quick-step HEAT underlay when the floor temperature requires heating above 45 degrees Celsius under the influence of solar ultraviolet radiation.
- Level the base of the floor, all joints located at a depth of more than 1 millimeter and having a width of more than 4 mm. Protruding parts beyond the floor plane must be removed using a scraper or sandpaper. Sometimes the use of a substrate makes it possible to avoid leveling the horizontal plane of the floor base.
- Use a transition profile in cases where temperature fluctuations in adjacent rooms will go beyond the range of 18-30 degrees Celsius.
- When laying on a wooden base, you must make sure that there is no mold or rot on it (especially on the back side). Then securely fix all segments of the subfloor and lay leveling wooden sheets on top such as OSB or moisture-resistant plywood (the moisture content in the structure of the laid wood should not be more than 10 percent).
- When installing on a concrete base that is not equipped with a heated floor system, it is necessary to check its humidity, it should be:
- 5% for cement subfloor.
- 5% for anhydrite subfloor.
- And for a concrete surface equipped with a heated floor, these indicators should be at the level of:
- 5% for cement subfloor.
- 3% for anhydrite subfloor.
Setting up:
- Before starting installation, it is worth measuring the dimensions of the room and determining the most relevant method for laying floor segments.
- If necessary, lay the underlay on the subfloor.
- During installation, you should ensure that monochromatic segments are not placed next to each other too often, as this will ruin the visual aesthetics of the floor.
- The lock system is removed from the first row adjacent to the wall; for this you need to use a construction knife. The locking system is removed completely for the corner segment of the floor, and for the remaining parts of the first row along the long side of the slab.
- An expansion joint is made from the wall and all fixed protruding elements; it is recommended to leave a 5 mm margin.
- To facilitate installation, it is recommended to first assemble three rows of covering in the middle of the room, then move them to the wall and install an expansion joint.
- During installation, you can sit on the assembled covering for convenience.
- After installing the first three rows, you need to stretch the rope along the covering and check it for parallelism, if necessary, level it.
- Installation is carried out smoothly. The first panel of the next row is inserted into the previous one at an angle of about 25 degrees.
- Using gentle up-down movements and simultaneous pressure on the strip, perform the joining process until it clicks.
- In hard-to-reach places, panels can be mounted using a block and a hammer, gently tapping. At the same time, do not strike the lock.
- Install each subsequent row using the same method.
Completing:
- Remove all spacers. Check the floor for horizontalness and correct assembly. Joints should not protrude or be concave inward.
- Mount the skirting boards to the walls in such a way that they do not put pressure on the floor surface. It is not recommended to fill the seam between the wall and the floor with silicone or other compounds to avoid deformation of the assembled structure. It is recommended to fill the joint only when assembling LVT flooring in small rooms with high humidity levels, such as a toilet and bathroom. To do this, use only Quick-Step Vinyl Hydrokit sealant.
Advantages and disadvantages
Let’s take a closer look at the advantages and disadvantages of the Ambient Click collection.
To the benefits This kind of covering consists of:
- Durable top protective layer that makes the coating resistant to water, scratches and stains. This coating is a guarantee that the floor will look decent even after several years of active use.
- Uniclick Multifit locking system allows you to easily install quartz vinyl, even without any professional skills.
- The tile not only has a stylish design, it is soft and warm enough that you can walk on it without indoor shoes.
- Sound absorption minimizes all typical unwanted noise (clicking heels or pet paws).
- Environmental friendliness. The coating does not contain formaldehyde and is produced from a quarter of self-recycled PVC coatings.
Some drawbacks to this collection are as follows:
- Use only at home.
- The need for additional laying of a substrate on the floor when installing the coating over a subfloor equipped with a heating system.
Price
This collection’s products are priced at 2900 rubles per square meter.

Installation
The list of installation tasks needs to be broken down into three phases, like this:
Work in preparation:
- After purchasing these panels, they must be transported to the room where installation is planned.
- Arrange the room temperature in the range from 18 to 30 degrees Celsius.
- Maintain LVT planks at the specified temperature for at least 48 hours before laying on the floor.
- Check the flooring for signs of mold and insect damage if installed on a wooden floor and for potholes, ripples, and cracks if installed on a concrete base.
- If defects are identified on the subfloor, they must be eliminated. Nail all loose and moving parts onto a wooden base, then level the base with one of the types of slab wooden coverings or a self-leveling mixture. On the concrete base of the floor, it is worth filling all the depressions and cracks, and also removing the sagging with a grinder.
Determine the moisture content of the floor. It ought to be:
- For wooden floors – 10%
- For concrete bases:
- Without floor heating:
- 5% in case of cement screed.
- 5% when laying on anhydride mixtures.
- With floor heating:
- 5% in case of cement screed.
- 3% when laying on anhydride mixtures.
Verify that the floor is clean, dry, and free of stains from grease and chemicals. Clean the surface and prime if required. Use a construction vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust as you can from the floor surface while cleaning it.
It’s important to inspect every panel that will be installed before moving forward with the installation; any tiles that have flaws need to be kept out of service.
Laying the foundation:
- Measure the geometric dimensions of the room area.
- Make sure the last row is at least 50mm wide.
- Assemble with adjustment without laying on the adhesive mixture. Plane layers are easily cut using a construction knife.
- Statement of the first two rows without the use of glue. Draw a line along the border of the assembled design. Glue mass should not go beyond this line.
- Lay out the first rows entirely, before installing on glue, make sure that the tiles are cut to the required size.
- Remove the tile from the floor laid without the use of glue.
- At the mark, apply glue along the width of the first two rows, a special glue is recommended for use for the installation of vinyl coatings.
- Lay two rows along the marked line. The bar is laid on the glue, after which it is necessary to level its position. Когда элементы выровнены, их необходимо прижать и прокатать валиком для обеспечения надежного соединения клеевой массы с задней поверхностью плиток. The remaining glue must be removed with a slightly moistened fabric. Cleaning tools cannot be used.
- Install the remaining prepared tiles on the subfloor.
- Rolling of the assembled sections with a roller must be done no later than 30 minutes after gluing.
Completing a task:
- Measure the floor for the presence of a horizontal surface, make sure that the structure is assembled correctly.
- Mount skirting boards to the wall. When organizing finishing work in a room with high humidity, transparent silicone must be used to glue the skirting boards to the wall.

Device Rules
When it comes to installation, every collection needs unique consideration. Some collections are glued to a rough base, while other products are assembled into a lock.
It is advisable to take into account the general instructions for setting up and installing quartz vinyl prior to installation. Three steps are involved in installing Quick-Step quartz vinyl and other PVC tile types:
- Preparing the rough foundation.
- Installation work.
- Finishing.
Let’s talk about general guidelines:
- Preparing the rough foundation is carried out as follows. Regardless of the material of the rough flooring, the concave parts are filled with a self-leveling mixture, the convex parts are cut off and sanded. If you plan to level the plank floor using a self-leveling mixture, you must fill all the gaps between the boards to create a monolithic cushion. After the surface is prepared, it is primed and dried.
- Installation is carried out only with a serviceable tool, taking into account all the manufacturer’s recommendations indicated on the packaging of LVT tiles. When laying adhesive type tiles, the initial assembly with adjustment is carried out without glue, and when choosing castle models, a lighthouse (zero) row is laid to ensure the correctness and horizontal plane of the row connection.
- Upon completion of installation, it is necessary to check the floor for correct assembly; the seams should not stick out or sag. Remove the expansion wedges (if necessary, blow out the technological gap with special silicone from Quick-Step). Install skirting boards and finishing strips.
General operating rules
For LVT products to last as long as possible—up to 25 years when used at home—simple guidelines for using quartz vinyl tiles must be followed:
- Starting at the entrance, keep the floor clean. It is necessary to remove first of all those particles that are abrasive (slag, crushed stone, metal shavings, etc.).d.). Cleaning is very simple; a vacuum cleaner, broom, damp rags, microfiber are suitable for this. And for some Alpha Vinyl collections you can even use a steam cleaner, but here it is important not to directly treat the tile surface, but to steam the elements through the fabric.
- Prevent direct contact of the coating with fire to avoid deformation of elements.
- Do not use the acid and alkali of non -domestic use for cleaning the surface, as well as abrasive consumables (metal mesh for cleaning, metal scrapers).
- Carry out minor repairs of dents and scratches in a timely manner, using special devices and branded materials.
